I got a rock...

Hey Mimes-dom - how you been?

We had our website go down for many weeks, thanks to the good folks at the now defunct cincymusic.com. Boo on them. So if you thought we had fallen and couldn't get up, you weren't wrong - internetically speaking.

After a slew of big shows this summer we Screaming Mimes regrouped and started working new material for *ta da* THE NEXT ALBUM. That's right... a new big fat CD of Mimes music for ya. I don't know when it will be recorded, mixed, pressed and in your greedy hands for injesting into your iPod, but we're pretty excited about the selection of songs we're working on. Not a stinker in the bunch (unlike that last album, with that ONE song, you know the one). Some of the tunes we've been playing out for some of this year, some we've been hiding from you.

We had a great rehearsal last week where we worked up four new songs from scratch - that felt awesome. One of them was a good old Screaming Mimes rocker... soon-to-be standard in our stage show I'm sure. One was a keyboard-based mid tempo tune that sounded like something from the 70's with a modern twist. Another song was like Dan Bern covering KT Tunstall. The last song was inspired by the new Julianna Hatfield album - I was in a "I'm going to run this chord progression into the ground" kind of mood after listening to her latest disc (which is terrific, check it out) and came up with a very cool moody rocker that everyone seems to dig.

It feels in a lot of ways that the band is hitting on all the right cylinders right now - we're very focused on refining the new material and getting it ready to record, and it sounds like a great album is in there.

A few folks have asked if we'll ever release "Behind The Mask" and the "Superdave" video in a better format than YouTube. The short answer is - YES. To expound on that, the rough plan is to put an album together of all our recorded material that didn't make it to the previous albums for whatever reason - we ran out of time, the song didn't fit the flow, or something about it bugged us, whatever. Early recordings, concert videos, etc... we'll put together a multi-disc package that will satisfy your every craving for Screaming Mimes - and then once you're hooked, you'll be begging for more. Or something.

But wait, there's a big show this weekend (Saturday, Nov 1st) that you need to get to! It's for a great cause - details below:
